Size: 8ft 11in x 3ft 3in (271 x 98cm).
Antique North West Persian Kelardasht runner, of traditional design.
Circa 1900.
This runner was woven by a small community of Karabagh Kurds who settled in the Mazandaran province around 1900. The design with is ten Moghan medallions on a soft red field, each medallion containing a star. The border is beautifully drawn with a classic reciprocal Caucasian inner and outer guard.
The runner has slight even wear and good pile, it should be noted that the runner has losses of about 2cm at both ends and has a number of small bites out of the side border as can be seen in the images. The runner is for sale as seen, but we would be happy to quote for fully or partial restoration.
