Antique Caucasian Khila rug from the Baku region of the Eastern Caucasus
Circa 1890.
This is an outstanding example of this type of rug, with eight large medallions containing floral rosettes. The red colour of the medallions contrasts well with the dark indigo blue field. Note the small ewers and birds in the field. The main border design is a most unusual feature of this rug.
The rug is in excellent condition with slight even wear and good pile.
The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
