Size: 8ft 5in x 4ft 10in (257 x 148cm).
Antique Turkish or Eastern European reproduction of a 17th century Star Ushak rug.
Circa 1900/20.
This rug is an outstanding reproduction of the famous and sought after 17th century Star Ushak design rug that is found displayed in the worlds great museums and private collections. It is thought that this reproduction was woven in Turkey or possibly Eastern Europe during the early part of the 20th century, it has been suggested that it could be from the workshop of the master weaver Teodor Tuduc, who had workshops in Brasov, Romania; and produced copies of some of the greatest 16th and 17th century rugs.
The rug has superb natural dyes throughout, with wonderful soft reds and a range of indigo blues. The rug is in excellent condition with only very slight wear in places and generally very good pile. There are one or two spots of old repairs.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display. The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
A rare opportunity to own a antique copy of a Star Ushak, a truly beautiful rug.
